Welcome! I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Texas A&M University.
My research lies in the field of Comparative Politics with an emphasis on the causes and consequences of marginalized groups’ representation in East Asia and across the globe.
My dissertation explores three factors that may limit substantive representation of marginalized groups once those groups obtain descriptive representation in the legislature. The first paper examines the military effect on male legislators' attitudes toward women's issues. The second paper analyzes committee assignments of female legislators elected via PR with a gender quota versus SMD. The third paper investigates the influence of mass public attitudes about sexual minorities on LGBTQ groups' substantive representation in the legislature.
